Nigel used a ceramic slide for the slide part. They are alot warmer soundin and carry alot more sustain than the glass metal or aluminum ones. we all use the ceramic ones for ease of use too!

Along with the last post does he use a E-bow for the solo?
I hate to even bring up technique because these tabs are a blessing. But, if you leave the fingers behind the slide resting on the strings (your index and middle since you have the slide on your ring finger) you get less noise when you move it. it also helps give definition to notes you are playing.
