More Than Anything

By Jerome

Here's another song from United's new album. I love the Pre-chorus, very groovy, and the drum has a unique beat for the verse. I use a crunch tone here for 1st guitar, have fun!

1st Guitar

Intro:
It's hard to mantain the rhythm here especially when you play it standing.
I took 10 mins to practice to get it right!

2nd Guitar
Here's the 2nd guitar part. The tone here has more crunch, I used my Agro Lead patch to get a heavier crunch. The 2nd guitar is more rhythm parts as it supports the 1st guitar with power chords often.

Intro: add some delay so it won't sound too dry
------------------11-----11-----
-14-12--14--12------14-12--12---
------11------11---------------- 4x

Pre-chorus: I love this part
------------------
------------------
------4---4------- 4x
--4---4---2-------
--4---2---2-------

Strum

End with F#m to go to the chorus.
(Honestly i can't really catch the 2nd guitar in the pre-chorus, what I played here was quite spontaneous)

Chorus: strum

Uhmm....if you are aiming for an instructional vid, then maybe you should just use one camera angle.

Unknown said...

...and maybe you shouldn't be complaining about an almost perfect tab of a song that hasn't even been released in the US yet.

Unknown said...

yeah guitar_pic you're absolutely right. it's gonna be the last. Honestly i'm did it for fun but i'm wrong with that, i'm tired to do that type of video for guitarpraise i'll be back at the old style :). Anyway Hope still helps.
I apologize for the video, it we'll never happen again.

Sorry guys!

this is awesome, well done! =D

you guys have done an amazing thing here, i don't know if you have any idea what a great resource this blog is to church guitar players.

big love in christ

Don't loose the neck cam. Here are things I picked up that I don't get to see on the normal front view.
- When you're doing slides, rather than lifting and moving your fingers.
- How you're muting strings with your index finger.
- Palm muting
- Excellent wrist action

Oh, and loved the body groove you get into by the end of the vid!

My suggestion is to use the neck cam for parts which are repetitive.. so there's at least one run of the front view, then the camera goes to the side when the riff repeats :)

Neck cam is just fine. I'm usually one that's made fun of for being "too conservative," but I don't see a problem.

As long as the mentality is that of learning the song for Christ, why worry of such a trivial thing?

dude I had a go at doing this song, but your tab really fills in the blanks thanks so much man you did really well.

can you tab yours forever next?

^^ said...

can you plss post the chords of this song plss plss plss thank you

no said...

what cam are you using for neck?? :P

Hi Jerome. Yikes!......sorry.....didn't mean to offend anyone. It's was just a innocent request. Even though the neck camera angle looks cool, having a frontal shot of the fretboard would be more helpful on an instructional video.

and wenbinbin, it doesn't matter if the song was new or old. I still would have posted my initial request.

to Bass94...

Tnk you very much GBU.
It's a Cort Katana KX1 made in Korea, there are good guitars they have motherbuckers with push-pull pot.

I recommend a blue color, it's more cooler! haha

i think towards the end, one of the guitars is doing a high voice kinda thing. like if u listen closely there's a high part that's being done, i'm not sure if that' lead or second but can u see if it's right or if i'm just imagining things haha. thanks

God bless

..P.S.. maybe someone could tab out more of there stuff and start a thing for them..they have really nice guitar parts!!!

so for the pre- chorus you all need to listen again. johngilesyoder is right. and also it is F# B E it is F# G#min Emaj7. listen carefully and you will hear those D#(8) and G#(9) notes in the song. tabbed out it is:
-------------------
--7------9--4------
--6--xxx-8--4-----
--4--xxx-6--2-----
-----xxx-----------
-------------------

it definitely has an emaj7 form chord with a flatted e note.

or you could even do something like:
-------------------
--7------9--4--5---
--6--xxx-8--4--4---
--4--xxx-6--2--2---
-----xxx-----------
-------------------

and the chorus is this for the first guitar:
-----7---7---6-------------
--------------7------------
--8h9-8h9-8s6-------------- 4x
---------------------------
---------------------------
---------------------------

for the 8h9 on the G string, i use finger 2 and hammer on with finger 3. i use finger 1 for the 7 on the E string. for the 8s6 i slide down with finger 2. i hit the 6 on the E string with finger 3 and hit the 7 on the B string with finger 4.

listen carefully to it. i'm 100% sure on my end. but play what suits you. worship is meant to be free. i guarantee the hillsong guitarists don't do it that exact way every time. each guitarist probably adds his own flavor. we all should too. thanks for what you are doing here guitarpraise blogspot. and thanks jerome.

and i agree that the neck cam can get confusing. maybe like the other guy said use it for a part the second time it's in the song. good work all.

stephan said...

not to be more annoying but for guitar to the intro is this:
------------------11----11------
-14-12--14--12------12----12----
------11------11------11-------- 4x
--------------------------------
--------------------------------
--------------------------------
as for the 2nd guitar verse i play this though it's to what dynamic your worship band wants. just some thinner power chords. you could even cut it down to just the root notes. with the other way, it's pretty much just the root notes except the note you have jerome which is a D#(1 on 4th string) your first guitar is already playing this note for the first not of the verse on a higher octave to make it stand out more and be more defined. the 2nd guitar in this verse just provides simple rhythmic chugs to support the melody and the 1st guitar. remember that pretty much every part is written and played in mind to support the melody.
--------------------
--------------------
--------------------
---------4----------
---6-2---2--4-------
---4-0------2-------

100% positive on these things.

sorry if i sound like a snob. just trying to help.

stephan said...

and to my first post i meant to say it ISN'T F# B E. it IS F# G#min Emaj7. sorry for any confusion.

Unknown said...

I check out your tabs and there right, thanks for that stephan... i might re-do my video.

In the pre-chorus is 100% right
but your chorus is quite out of tune.

I think it's like this:
-----7---7---6-------------
--------------7------------
--6h8-6h8-6s8-------------- 4x
---------------------------
---------------------------
---------------------------

And the Intro of the 2nd guitar is like you said... so thanks for the right tabs. I think my tabs are just variations... lol

Don't worry about this... I think in this situation i'll learn a lesson so i thank you :)

GBU

ps. i might post your tabs under my tabs so they'll see the right tabs

Unknown said...

It's Jerome by the way! :)

stephan said...

hey thanks for the response. that's what i love about worship music is that you can add your own flavor to it. it is an open and free time where when it really comes down to, the guitar part is irrelevant to ushering in God's presence. all it takes is a desire to worship Him.

and one last thing on the chorus part, how you play it is really up to you. whoever is right or wrong, the one part i am pretty sure of is that the 8 slides down to the 6 the third time. i can hear that pretty distinctly. but that's just my ear! thanks for posting all this jerome.

Hi,

Sorry if I seem picky.

Just thought that everyone should know that this song is in the Key of B major.

Hopefully this help on the theory aspects. So the tabs should show F# major not minor throughout the song. THat will help band leaders with their pianist and acoustic guitarist.

Thanks for the vid.

i have just one question.
i dont understand the intro tab.
Do i have to play the 3rd string and the 5th string, with out touching the 4th. I can't play that

I liked the mulitipule cameras

This song is crazy...im the only electric guitarist in my worship team..trying to get both guitar parts in there is madness!! but this song is totally awesome..we have to want to praise God More than Anything!

Thanks so so much, I haven't been able to find these tabs anywhere. Naturally I was expecting some dodgy chords called a 'tab' but instead I found a brilliantly tabbed lead/2nd guitar parts with an instructional video. Perfect :)
