Solution (bass)

By Bass Levite

Some of you may have seen Tenni (United Live bassist)'s bass blog on YouTube about the bass riff of this song. However, he seems to have done it in the key of A and one octave higher. The song in the album is in key B and the riff is played in the low regime. As Tenni mentioned, it's better to minimise arm movement by centralising the notes you play, as shown below. The little finger is useful for this!

Riff 1

-------------------
-------4h6-6-6-4-4-
-------------------
-4-4-4-------------

-------------------
-------4h6-6-6-4-4-
-7-7-7-------------
-------------------

-------------------
-------4h6-6-6-4-4-
-------------------
-7-7-7-------------

-------4-4-4-3-3-
-4-4-4-----------
-----------------

Riff 2

-----------------
-------2-2-2-1-1-
-----------------
-4-4-4-----------

-----------------
-------1-1-1-----
-------------4-4-
-0-0-0-----------

-----------------
-------1-1-1-----
-2-2-2-------4-4-
-----------------

-----------------
-----------------
-------2-2-2-1-1-
-2-2-2-----------

This 3 - 3 - 2 note pattern is a very common bass line, where the root note is played 3 times, followed by other notes of the scale, usually but not necesarily the 3rd and 5th notes of the chord. Just by this simple improvisation, the song can be built up.

I think that you should practice more your independence in every finger, you move alot your hand, should be a movement more smooth..

on all of your videos it looks like your changing notes to late, you need to work on your timing, and be prepared to change notes before you actually do change, you need to know whats coming.

If you wear a lot of plain color clothes, Hermes Garden Party Tote classic colors such as black, orange, Blue Jean and dark gold are the best to match your outfit, or a two-tone colored Birkin would make you look cute and stylish. Greens, pink, fuchsia and Cyclamen are fresh in spring; rouge, red and orange looks gorgeous in autumn; blues, white and violet are popular in winter.
