***Note. This is a version recorded live at Church on The Move (COTM) in Tulsa Oklahoma (my hometown). I used this so that it would be easier to identify the contrast from the track to what I am playing and for copyright purposes.
I realize, now that I have finished editing and uploading the video, that I defocused EVERY time the intro is played. This was not intentional, I just liked the effect.
Intro
e----------------------------------------------|
B-----9---------------------------------------| Repeat
G--9---------------------11-----------------|
D--------------------14----------------------|
I typically slide the finger from the 9 to 11 when changing to get that added overtone. (I like the way it sounds)
Verse
e--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
B------9-----------7-----------4------------5-----------------------------9-----------7--|
G------------------------------------------------------(repeat)---------------------------|
D---9-----------7-----------4------------4--------------------------9------------7-------|
A--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
E--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
Chorus/Instrumental
e-------9-----------9h11--12---------------------------------------------------------------
B----9----12--9---------------9-------------------------------------------------------------
G----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
D----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chords - (simplified)
- Intro - A, B
- Verse - A, E, B
- Chorus - A, E, B, C#m
- Bridge - A, E, B, A, E, B, C#m
I made a small mistake in the "jamming session" while recording. That whole part was not something I planned or practiced doing prior to the video shoot. In a live setting, I would never do that much improv or add lib. It was just me trying to throw a bunch of parts into a small space in the song. I am inspired by creativity and originality and I hope this inspires you as well.
