Through Christ

Here's 'Through Christ' by Generation Unleashed, one of my favourite songs on the album.



The chorus goes 'I can do all things through Christ', and is taken from Philippians 4:13 - "I can do everything through him who gives me strength". But remember not to take it out of context - 'all things' doesn't mean you can fly or rob a bank! Rather, the preceding verses go "I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want". The passage is really about depending on God for your needs, and being content in Christ. Hearing this song, I feel challenged like Job was - if God took away my job, my family & friends, my belongings, can I still say "I pull through this in Christ"? Its something we all need to learn!
