The Time Has Come (bass)

By Bass Levite

[Kenny: this is a great post in terms of the accuracy of the notes. However, do note the following mistakes (take it as a negative demonstration): i) the rhythm of the notes is inconsistent, ii) there is too much wrist movement (slows down your playing), and iii) hammer-ons should have been used (i've updated the tabs). Other than that, I hope you'll benefit greatly from this challenging riff!]

Note that the open strings are avoided, even though it might make some of these rifts easier to play. The reason being that it is easier to transpose up to a higher (and sometimes lower) key when using closed strings.

Prebridge: (x2)
------------------------------------
-----7h9----------7h9---------------
-9-9-----(x4)-----------7-7----(x2)-
--------------7-7-----7-----7-------

Bridge: (x3)
------------------------------------
-----7h9----------7h9---------------
-9-9-----(x4)-----------7-7----(x2)-
--------------7-7-----7-----7-------

[edit: for the above line, play this instead:]

-----------------------------------------------
-----7h9----------7h9--------------7h9---------
-9-9-----(x4)-----------7-9--------------7-7---
--------------7-7-----7-----7--7-7-----7-----7-

------------------------------------------------------
-----7h9--------------------------------------7---7h9-
-5-5-----5-5-7---(x2)-----------------7-7-7-7---7-----
---------------5------5-5-5-5-5-5-5-5-----------------

The tab should actually be
------------------------------------
-----7h9----------7h9---------------
-9-9-----(x4)-----------7-9----(x2)-
--------------7-7-----7-----7------

I bought the bass notes from the hillsong website and the first part (prebridge)is played like this. But you can make play it to make it your own, it doesn't always have to be exact, God Bless and keep up the great work you have put in this website.

Man, this pre-chorus is a tough one...but once you nail it, it's such a beautiful riff. F# to A to B is harsh on the ol' fingers.
