Freedom Is Here

By Nick

This is Hillsong’s new track from their upcoming album. This song is fairly easy, it uses the same chords throughout: D A E5 B5

Note that this is based on the pre-album version (non-live version). Hence some of the guitar parts are different, e.g. the intro (done on keyboard), and the guitar uses octaves and not single notes.

Intro (guitar only)

----------7-7-9-9-12-12--------
-7--(X 16)-------------10-10-7-
-------------------------------
-------------------------------
-------------------------------
-------------------------------
palm mute the 7 (X 16), and use dotted eighth delay whenever playing this part.(I suggest using delay the whole song).

Intro (all instruments)

--------7-7-9-9-12-12----------
-7-(X 8)--------------10-10----
-------------------------------
-------------------------------
-------------------------------
-------------------------------

-----------9-9-12-12-----------
-12-(X 10)-----------10-10-7---
-------------------------------
-------------------------------
-------------------------------
-------------------------------
do this twice before going into the verse.

Verse

---5--5--5----5--5--5----------
--7--7-------5--5--------------
-7--7--7----6--6--6------------
-------------------------------
-------------------------------
-------------------------------

---4--4--4----2--2--2----------
--5--5-------3--3--------------
-4--4--4----4--4--4------------
-------------------------------
-------------------------------
-------------------------------

do this twice before going into the chorus, and also palm mute all the notes throughout the verse.

Pre-Chorus

-2-------5-------4-------7-----
-3-(X 8)-5-(X 8)-5-(X 8)-7-(X 1)
-2-------6-------4-------8-----
-------------------------------
-------------------------------
-------------------------------

you can strum these chords open or palm muted, it sounds fine either way. But im not so sure whether the 8 should be in there with the last chord, so I thought I’d let you decide yourself lol.

Chorus

-10------9-------7------7------
-10(X 8)-10(X 8)-9(X 8)-7(X 8)-
-------------------------------
-------------------------------
-------------------------------
-------------------------------
do this twice and the last time when you’re doing the last chord do this :

-7------12(X 3)----------------
-7(X 4)---------10(X 1)--------
-------------------------------
-------------------------------
-------------------------------
-------------------------------

Verse
Pre-chorus
Chorus

Once the 2nd time through the chorus is done, do this:

---------7-7-9-9-12-12---------
-10(X 8)---------------10-10---
-------------------------------
-------------------------------
-------------------------------
-------------------------------

----------9-9-12-12------------
-12(X 10)-----------10-10------
-------------------------------
-------------------------------
-------------------------------
-------------------------------

--------7-7-9-9-12-12----------
-7(X 8)---------------10-10----
-------------------------------
-------------------------------
-------------------------------
-------------------------------

-------------------------------
-12(X 10)-10-10-9-9-10-10------
-------------------------------
-------------------------------
-------------------------------
-------------------------------

Bridge
Do the exact same thing as the verse except, don’t do palm muting this time around.

Chorus (quiet)

---------10---------10-----10--
-10(X 2)----10(X 2)-----10-----
-------------------------------
-------------------------------
-------------------------------
-------------------------------
play the chorus chords like this one time through.

-------5--------5----5---------
-7(X 2)— 7(X 2)----7-----------
-------------------------------
-------------------------------
-------------------------------
-------------------------------
then pick the notes on the first two strings of the verse chords like this.

End the song with the Intro. Listen for exact timing of notes going into the ending from the chorus.

Hey, the BRIDGE section is
|D |F#m |A |E |

Otherwise the rest is D A E Bm

Hey Chris, I got this song off of youtube. It's one of hillsong's pre-released tracks from their new album.

Hey BennyBallistic, I tried those chords just now with the bridge. and i gotta tell you, it doesn't sound right to me. I think the D A E B sounds much better. But, then again, thats just the way it sounds to my ears. Thanks for the input, Nick

wow! You're using the same guitar as me! :D a fender right?

For the intro, it's supposed to octaves with a quarter note delay, not a .8th.

Great job though

I know lol. I covered the first version that came out. the one that wasn't edited at all. In that video they used single notes with dotted eighth delay. I will tr and post a cover of the new version a.s.a.p. Thanks!

@ BennyBallistic and vezza94 the chords for the bridge were changed on the live version. I think that's the source of the confusion.

Does anyone have the chords for the song?

Thanks

The per-chorus and chorus chords are actually

D A E/G# Bm

Good job :)

Just one question, did you use delay for the whole entire song? without touching the pedal for anything? just wandering.
