Holy Spirit Come

Here's a song composed by one of my church's senior musicians. The original version was very solemn, slow, and emotional, like most 'Holy Spirit' songs. But Acts 1:8 writes that "you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you", and I thought to have a powerful 'Holy Spirit' song for a change. Here it is, lyrics and chords below. Download the song.

For some singing, check out the original version, fast forward to 13:15.

Verse
You are His promised gift to us
The Counselor the Teacher in His ways
You speak the truth when we're astray
Convict our hearts to walk the path of faith

Chords: E B C#m A (x2)

Pre-Chorus
As we lift up holy hands
and surrender our lives to You
May You freely rule and reign
our hearts today

Chords: C#m B A | C#m B A | C#m B A E/G# F#m B

Chorus
Holy Spirit come
Please come into this place
Have Your way in us
Change us come fill this place

Chords: E B F#m A (x2)

I think my church may own some rights over the song... suggest you drop an email to info@fcbc.org.sg if you intend to use it for say your church service. If its just for say cell group I don't think there's an issue - after all we don't drop Hillsong an email every time we sing their songs during cell.

Copyrights and ownership are completely wrong. Doesn't they all say "this is what the Lord gave me by his Spirit" Did the writer pay God for the content. Does God get a cheque for his royalties?

I'd hate to go to my pastor for counceling and have him sharge me for his time. How absurd.

Keith Green should be an example for all songwriters (of worship music or aids to worship, not christian entertainment) and worship leaders.

But Hillsong were the biggest advocators for CCLI and they are making the millions from it. Don't that call that Peddaling the Gospel.

Come on guys, The Lord gives us these things to build the body not charge our brothers for them simply being a vessel for His work. Do you pay a hammer for the work it did or do you pay the tradesman.

^ So let's say you wrote a song and did't copy-write it. Now someone else comes along and steals your song, puts his name on it, and makes money with it. I would imagine you'd be more than mad. Just because someone uses their God-given gift to make a living doesn't mean they're "peddling the Gospel." If Hillsong did everything for free do you think they would be able to tour the world and bring the Gospel with them? Do you think we would be blessed by so much of their music? Doubtful. Song writing is not easy. It can be and is a full time job for a lot of people. Why shouldn't they get paid for their labors?

I thought that was what faith was about. God callign you to something and you going. But I think I'm mistaken I forgot that Jesus established himself in a city built a church preached from there charged people for His God given talent. Peter, Paul, John, the early church all these guys charged for their God given talent. You are thinking in the ways of this world Matt16:23 is talking about having the mind of men and being a stumbling block. Rom 12:2. These things, copyrights and such have been established by men for the gain of men, yet the 'christians' jump on the idea and run with it.

What I'm saying is, how can you take royalties, charge for concerts (or "seminars") on what the Lord has given someone. Isn't that pharisaical? isn't that what Jesus stood against? Isn't that what Paul hammered the church for? Lets be a people that have some guts and actualy trust in the Lord for provision instead of charging our brothers in christ for us to get paid for our labours. you talk to any pastor that has gone out ar any missionary that they deserve to get paid for their labours.

It's time for us to start thinking Kingdom and not thinking world.

2 Tim 3:1-5

3 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them.

Dale, I love where your heart is at and I'm sure everyone here does, but the world isn't that simple and people need to make a living too. I don't think people should be making huge profits out of their music, but they still need to put food on the table so none of us should mind paying for it to help our fellow brothers to live so they can continue to make us music and not have to waste their talents. One last thing God is providing for these people by us buying their CD's it may not be a miracle like the feeding the 5,000 but he works in many ways, even ways that may seem worldly to us, such as modern medicine and doctors.

Hi Steven, That is the thing, a people not living by faith have to do things like this. What I am sayign is that it is destroying the body. If my brother is in need I provide for him. He doesn't charge me for his input into the family. This is about Faith on the part of as these paropel call the 'owner' of that intelectual property. Funny thing is they don't own it, and if they claim they do then they have stolen from God.

I believe minds need to be renewed in this and not Just jump on Hillsongs bandwagon, Hey read their values statement, they admit to preaching a Gospel of Relevence not a Gospel of Repentance, one of taking up your cross and dying to your flesh, saying not my will but Yours Lord.

I pray that there are young people with a desire to know God and have worships songs placed on their hearts reading this and don't get suckered into the lies of the teachings of the church of the day today, but offer themselves as a sacrifice whole and pleasing to God. Remember guys we are love slaves to God, a slave owns nothing. I'll leave this here. Regards.
