To Know Your Name (United EP version)

United has a new EP (In a Valley By the Sea) is out, and includes a version of Hillsong's To Know Your Name. Real nice delay going on (dotted 8th note). Went off timing at the end, whoops!

hey kenny,
this is what i found works for me, it's very similar to what you're doing. and sometimes it seems like they do variations of this

-10---------9-----------
----10----------5----8-7
------11---9---7----7---
-0------------9----5----
----------0-------------
------------------------

with a quarter eighth delay with maybe one or two repeats.

I agree with above on the feedback settings. Only one repeat on the riff, lower your feedback.

And I think the actual riff plays more arpeggio.

what delay settings did you use for this song (fback, time, delay, effect)?

hey kenny i dont know if its my eyes, but it looks like your playing something different than the tabs, and how many miliseconds do you have it on?

Dotted 8th note delay, tap tempo.

This tab is correct, but the song is actually played with a capo on the 7th fret. (You can tell my listening to the bass notes.) This tab works if a capo is not available, but to truly get the right sound, place it on the 7th fret and pick chords, G D Em C.

hey kenny i know this tab is right but could you do it slowly and sync the video so we can get the picking pattern down? thanks a lot

I'd have to agree with Gabeadams. it works easily that way... but I would just look at it like you're comping.

If you just pick out these chords you get something really similar.

D A Bm G
-10---9---7---10---
-10---10--7---7h8--
-11---9---7---7----
-------------------

Delay time: the best thing to do is to use a dotted eighth delay with the tap temp...lacking that you could try to run about 330 milliseconds. Play with the feedback and volume till you are satisfied. It doesn't have to be an exact replicate of the album. That's the beauty of music! Creativity!

Those of you who see the difference in the video and posted tab: You are correct. The first note, which is played on the 7th fret of the G string, has been changed to the 12th fret of the D string. The corrected tab is played as follows...

-------10---------------9---9-
----10----10-----10-----------
-12-----------11-------9---9---
------------------------------
------------------------------
------------------------------

----------------------------
---5---5----8---7-8-7-------
-7---7----7---7-------------
----------------------------
----------------------------
----------------------------

Though both versions work fine, playing the D on the 12th fret of the D string instead of the 7th fret G string will produce a sweeter, more suited note for this song.

God bless!
