Take it All

When I started this site I intended for it to be a place to share variations on the guitar parts in Christian songs. Thus, the original post on Take it All had lots of variations, but no tabs of the actual guitar parts. I've finally got down to tabbing the latter, but the intro/verse of the United Live version still varies abit because I have no idea how to set the delay for the song, and picked everything instead. I'm also not entirely certain abt the part which uses harmonics, so if anyone has suggestions feel free to leave them in the comments.

While the video only shows the United Live guitar parts, i've also included the Hillsong Mighty to Save tabs below.

oh. this is only a theory. but instead of using just one delay pedal or effect, they stringed together. like 3 delays? cause. one is like . kinda not enough. so i tried 2 before and it sounded a lot better. but not to the point hillsong has it. so maybe like. 3-4 delays at once cause they delay each other and that cool sound comes out =]

What effect did you use for this song???

I used the proco rat distortion, into a hiwatt amp, with a tinge of stereo delay. But using digital delay, set at a dotted eighth note, works also.

Could you please do a video of the Mighty to Save version of the Take it All guitar solo?

Can you please just play the whole song, and put it on youtube,
(with a guitar with frets)

Hey here's a suggestion....
I play this song using a 3/4ths time delay, so that the actual 4/4ths beat in the delay is slower than what I play. Try setting your delay so that it keeps delaying for about 3 beats, and set the tap so that the tempo of the delay is 1/3 in relation to the actual 4/4th's time in the song.

If you didn't understand me just leave me an email at tomahawk10@gmail.com

the delay for this song on the united we stand cd is the same for the intro.

set it about 300 ms and experiment with the amount of feedback.

the echo level should be about the same as your actual guitar level.

hope that helps

Hi all,
Michael (the guitarist in the United album) actually uses a Boss DD5 Digital Delay (he uses 2 in his rig) with an FS-5U for delay tempo, i actually got to take a photo of his rig in the encounterfest, at the recording of this album (UWS). He also has a TS808 tube screamer and a Jekyll & Hyde. I have a lower version of his delay DD3 but you can still achieve this sound. so for all the DD3 owners the settings are:
E.Level= 1'Oclock
F.Back= 12'Oclock
D.Time= 11'Oclock
Mode= 800ms or 12'Oclock

hope this helps. if anybody finds a more accurate sound with the DD3 please post it up.

so kenny, what's the picking rhythm for the intro? Cause in the video ur picking looks like it's just constantly moving up and down.

Is that what you're doing? and then the delay pedal makes the other sounds? or is there a certain rhythm ur picking in?

Cause ur picking order sounds different from that of the actual song on the cd. Or it might just be that Hillsong United uses multiple delay pedals at once.

I continually pick up and down, but lots of the notes are muted. This creates a percussive sound and drives the music on. I don't think United does this, but personally i prefer the way i do it :)

I usually do this with a dotted eighth digital delay, creates a running effect on top of my playing.

With Take It All...on the album Mighty To Save...there is a riff that is used by Hillsong London...for the riff on Mighty To Save...listen on the right side...that side will have a riff
and for Hillsong London, the riff is played through on the album Lord of All...it's an album combining Hillsong, Hillsong London, and Hillsong Kiev

the delay for the intro and beginning of this song is using dotted eighths plus tap tempo so you can get the exact rhythm of the song. the way i play it (and im pretty sure this is how they do) is:
e:------------------------19 19
B:18-18--16-16--15-15 15

Do you have the chorus somewhere? I can't find anywhere for this song!
