In the original song, they used a 5 stringed bass, and they played some of the C and D notes on the low B string.

It may take some practice to get this part right. Play the low G with the first finger, and then slide it up the fretboard until the third finger is at the 1oth fret of the A string. Next, simultaneously release the pressure from the E string, muting it with your first finger, and play the high G on the 10th fret of the A string. Then, use the second finger to play the high F note thrice quickly before using the first finger to play the E note once. You may also slide the E down after playing it to start the rift once again.

The first 4 bars of the verse incorporates sliding back and forth between notes. Note that you hit the low G note twice before moving to the high F note. The important thing to keep in mind when doing this is to mute the strings after you have sliden them and play the next note at the same time. This makes the sound continuous without noticeable breaks.

The song plays the chords C and D on the low B string (play and hang).
